Saffron Road CEO, Adnan Durrani, Joins Prominent Frozen Food Industry Leaders on AFFI Board of Directors

Stamford, CT – February 9, 2022 - Saffron Road, a leader in clean-label, world cuisine frozen entrees, shelf-stable meals, simmer sauces and plant-based protein snacks, today announces that CEO and Founder, Adnan Durrani, has been elected to the 2022 American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI) board.

Durrani will join ten other prominent frozen industry leaders on this year’s board, including Tracey Beck, Vice President Chief Counsel Marketing & Government Affairs at ConAgra Foods; Kurt Deibel, Vice President Food Safety & Quality at Kraft Heinz; and Rick Drummond, Vice President R&D at B&G Foods to support AFFI’s mission of advancing the interest of all segments of the frozen food and beverage industry. Founded in 1942, AFFI is the largest national frozen food organization, advocating, elevating and supporting innovation for all frozen food and beverage makers.

“I am honored to join AFFI’s board and have the opportunity to support my peers in frozen,” Durrani shared. “I’m so proud of the work we’ve done at Saffron Road to elevate frozen foods and provide a healthy, convenient and delicious escape through these uncertain times with our clean-label world cuisine meals. I know that by joining with the forces behind AFFI, we will all be working together to help further shape the culinary revolution in the frozen category.”

Frozen, a $65B industry, has experienced enormous growth in the last year—up 21%, according to a recent Deloitte study. Saffron Road, the number one better-for-you animal protein frozen meals brand*, saw 40% year over year growth in 2021 and maintained 98% in stock supply through the entire 2 years of the pandemic. With opportunity abundant for frozen in 2022, the past two years have reshaped the category as new consumers turned to frozen for convenience, ease and long shelf-life and have returned, thanks to the variety and healthy, high quality options.

“I am delighted to welcome Adnan Durrani to AFFI’s Board of Directors,” says AFFI President and CEO Alison Bodor. “I’m looking forward to having Adnan’s leadership and innovative spirit on our board as we look to the future by elevating frozen’s voice to create an environment where frozen foods are essential in a dynamic marketplace.”

Durrani’s service on AFFI’s Board of Directors is effective as of February 8, 2022 and will last for a term of one year.
