Saffron Road Introduces Expanded Plant Based Protein Snack Line at Summer Fancy Food Show

Brand Further Compliments World Cuisine Offerings with Expansion of On-Trend Snack Line

STAMFORD, Conn. (June 21, 2016) – Saffron Road®, the fastest growing brand of premium frozen entrees, will introduce its expanded plant based protein snack line including new innovative legume snack, BeanStalks®, at the Summer Fancy Food Show in New York City from June 26-28th.

Earlier this year, the brand launched a line of globally inspired lentil chips and crackers in addition to adding a new flavor to their crunchy chickpea snack line. Lentils and chickpeas are among the world’s healthiest foods – they’re a good source of protein, folic acid, and both soluble and insoluble dietary fiber. Plant-based nutrition is an essential component of the natural and organic industry. Pulses such as dry beans, lentils, and chickpeas are gaining attention as nutritionally superior value-added foods and ingredients, based on their wholesome, sustainable, gluten-free, and non-GMO attributes.

Saffron Road’s new Beanstalks are tube shaped crunchy snacks created from green peas, pinto beans and cannellini beans which originate from the Mediterranean Basin and South America. Because of their legume base, one serving of BeanStalks (which is 21 stalks!) contains 3 grams of protein, 2 grams of fiber and just 120 calories. They come in three flavors - Sea Salt, Cheddar, and Barbeque - and their launch further demonstrates the brand’s commitment to bringing premium World Cuisine products to Americans. Like all Saffron Road products, the new snacks were created with the utmost commitment to authenticity, quality and taste to capitalize on the growing popularity of nutritious plant based protein snacks in the U.S.

Saffron Road will be sampling these new BeanStalks along with many of their other snack and World Cuisine products at the upcoming Summer Fancy Food Show in New York City at booth 3923.

“We are thrilled to add these three new legume snack products to our innovative snacks portfolio,” says Adnan Durrani, founder and CEO of Saffron Road. “Plant based high-protein snacks are playing a larger role in discerning American’s healthy eating choices. Indeed, such alternative snacks are no longer just for vegans and vegetarians and rather quickly are becoming widely accepted among the rapidly growing millennial population.”

“Saffron Road’s new BeanStalks are right on trend for today’s snack consumer. Because they’re primarily made from beans, they provide protein and fiber alongside an excellent crunch and taste. We expect them to be very well received at the upcoming Fancy Food trade show,” says Jack Acree, Executive Vice President of Saffron Road.

The BeanStalks snacks launched nationally in May and are available at Sprouts Farmers Market® and many other retailers for the suggested retail price of $2.99 – 3.29. They are certified Halal, Kosher and Gluten Free.
