LEPROSY RELIEF TOUR
20th November - 4th December 2010
This tour is dedicated to raising a minimum of US$20,000 for the 'Sewa Kendra Leprosy Relief' hospital and outreach clinics, and the 'Little School on the Roof' in Kathmandu.Daily Itinerary
Day 1 – 20th November: Arrival
Arrive Kathmandu, transfer to hotel. Evening: Meet & Greet and Welcome dinner.
Day 2 – 21st November: Kathmandu
Sightseeing and visit to Sewa Kendra Leprosy Relief hospital and clinic at Gaushala. Briefing on bikes and traffic conditions, followed by practice ride.
Day 3 – 22nd November: Kathmandu Valley
Sightseeing and ride around the Kathmandu Valley.
Day 4 – 23rd November. Kathmandu – Bandipur (144kms / 89 miles)
Cable car ride to mountain-top temple.
Day 5 – 24th November. Badipur – Pokhara (84kms / 52 miles)
Surrounded by the stunning Annapurna mountain range, Pokhara lies along the shores of beautiful Phewa Lake. A backdrop of magnificent Machhapurcchhare (Fish Tail) Mountain completes the scene.
Day 6 – 25th November: Optional Rides around Pokhara
For those not wanting to ride, you can meander down the main street with its myriad cafes, bars and shops, chill out on the lake or hike to a local village and/or up Sarankot for the fabulous views.
Day 7 – 26th November: Pokhara – Tansen (127kms / 79 miles)
At an altitude of 1343m (4406ft), Tansen is one of Nepal's most popular summer resorts. The views from here are spectacular ~ a mountain panorama from Dhaulagiri in the west to Gauri Shankar in the east.
Day 8 – 27th November: Tansen – Lumbini (82kms / 51 miles)
Lumbini was the birth place of Buddha. The area has many sites of religious and historical significance dating back to his birth in 623BC.
Day 9 – 28th November: Lumbini – Chitwan (189kms / 118 miles)
An early start to arrive at Royal Chitwan National Park in time to transfer to the safari camp for lunch. Mid-afternoon elephant safari in search of the endangered one-horned rhino and elusive Royal Bengal Tiger. Sightings maybe had of various deer, wild boar, sloth bear, leopard, monkeys and over 450 species of birds.
Day 10 – 29th November: Chitwan National Park
Second elephant safari followed by a visit to the elephant stables. Afternoon jeep safari to a lake in the forest to view Mugger crocodiles and water birds, followed by a boat ride on the river to see fresh water dolphin and fish-eating Gharial Crocodiles.
Day 11 – 30th November: Chitwan – Daman (105kms / 65 miles)
Situated at an altitude of 2,500m (8,000ft), Daman is a perfect all-season destination for outdoor activities such as rock climbing, paragliding, hang gliding, pony trekking, mountain biking, fishing etc. The mountain panorama includes the highest peak on the planet ~ Mount Everest (known as Sagarmatha in Nepal and Chomolangma in Tibet).
Day 12 – 1st December: Daman – Dhulikhel (112kms / 70 miles)
Situated at 1550m (5085ft) and famous for its scenic beauty and ancient ethnic traditions, Dhulikhel is a typical small Newari town. It is also one of the best places from which to watch the sunrise of the snow-capped Himalayan range.
Day 13 – 2nd December: Dhulikhel – Last Resort (68kms / 42 miles)
A fabulous ride through a deep gorge formed by the Sunkoshi and Bhote Koshi Rivers, takes us to 'The Last Resort' ~ quite literally the last accommodation before the Tibetan border. It is here in the resort's wonderful rustic setting that we stay the last night on the road and enjoy a few drinks at sunset followed by dinner.
Day 14 – 3rd December: Last Resort – Kathmandu (100kms / 62 miles)
After a leisurely start, it's back to Kathmandu to bid a fond farewell to the bikes and enjoy a Farewell Dinner at one of Kathmandu's most iconic night spots – the famous, Rum Doodle Restaurant & 40,000 ½ft Bar!
Day 15 – 4th December: Tour Ends
Participants may stay on in Nepal to work at the Sewa Kendra hospital, chill-out in Kathmandu, go trekking or join a sister charity's building project ~ a hostel for girls in the remote Everest region who wish to continue their high school, tertiary or vocational education.
A more detailed itinerary is provided on receipt of completed booking form and standard tour deposit of US$500.

While sightseeing in Kathmandu, participants are given the opportunity to visit our tour’s benefitting charity, the Sewa Kendra Leprosy Relief to meet with Dr. Pradhan and the organizations clients. You will see first hand the enormous difference that our contributions will make to the clinic and its “Little School On The Roof".
